Vitra MuseumAbout the museumThe Vitra Design Museum opened in 1989. The core of the museum was furniture collected by CEO Rolf Fehlbaum. Pieces by Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, Alvar Aalto, and Jean Prouvé reflected not only the history of the company but also of 20th-century design. From a closed private collection, the museum grew into the public museum it is today, with exhibitions, workshops, publications, and museum products, an archive, and a research library. The traveling exhibitions of the Vitra Design Museum are shown at partner institutions around the world. But the landmark buildings by visionary architects such as Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, and Tadao Ando are not all there is to see. As one of the largest collections of modern furniture design in the world, The Vitra Design Museum includes several design icons which are today produced by Heller, These include Selene, designed by Vico Magistretti; Bocca and Capitello, designed by Studio 65; Joe by De Pas, d’Urbino and Lomazzi.
