Musee des Arts Decoratifs

About the museum
Since it opened in 1905, the museum has helped establish the importance of design on an equal footing with the other arts.

Housed in the Marsan wing of the Louvre, the newly reopened museum with its beautifully-refurbished galleries is dedicated to the finest items of decorative art, dating from the Middle Ages and up to today. Furniture, glassware, porcelain, jewelry, and even toys are among the 6000 items on exhibit from the collection of 150,000 items.

Heller at the museum
Although the focus at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris is on the French art de vivre, foreign designers are occasionally honored. In 1992-1993 Massimo and Lella Vignelli were given a retrospective. And among the key objects from their lifetime of achievement was their dinnerware for Heller.
