The Museum of Modern Art

The Museum of Modern Art in New York City recognizes that art involves all forms of visual expression. At MoMA, art is not just hung on the walls or displayed on pedestals. Art also means the chairs which the museum uses for its guests.

About the museum
MoMA is dedicated to being the foremost museum of modern art in the world. Its ever-growing collection includes over 150,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, architectural models and drawings, films, and design objects. Recently rebuilt at its home on 53rd Street in New York City, the granite and glass building by Yoshio Taniguchi covers 630,0000 square feet. The museum welcomes about 2 million visitors a year.

Heller at the museum
MoMA needed chairs for its main café and turned to Heller for The Bellini Chair. The museum needed 250 guest chairs for public events and openings and chose The Bellini Chair for its ease of use, comfort and beauty. The MoMA Gift Catalogue looked to offer an outstanding piece of modern furniture to its customers and selected The Bellini Chair.

MoMA’s permanent collections contains some of the world’s finest modern paintings, sculptures, drawings, and photographs. Among its masterpieces of modern design, MoMA’s Architecture and Design Collection includes several Heller products: Massimo Vignelli’s stacking dinnerware and his cups and saucers; Philippe Starck’s Excalibur toilet brush; and Vico Magistretti’s Selene chair.
